I have taken this week to play with and review the p90x program before I start the 90 day cycle. I have been following the Fat Shredder diet for a couple of days, but was loose for New Years Eve. I have done two p90x workouts so far; Chest and Arms & Plyometrics and I had a hour run on the treadmill between the two days. I received my program in the mail at a odd time in the week and during holiday season, but I still wanted to get started. I jumped into the eating program to see what it was like and substituted a DVD for a run. So far I am very happy how my body is responding.
Starting out I have noticed that the added protein in my diet has made me more satisfied during the day. I also tend to sleep better with this new "diet", so that has been a pleasant surprise for me. Another pleasant surprise for me was to learn that I am pretty good shape already. I have the AZ Rock & Roll Marathon coming up in 2 weeks and I think that introducing this program is a great segway for the next fitness efforts for 90 days.
Let me also mention that setting 90 blocks for goals has been a great time frame for myself. My first 90 day block of trainning was for Imogene Trial Run. Imogene is a trail race in Colorado that starts in Ouray Colorado and ends in Telluride Colorado. The race is 17 miles long, with a 6000 foot vertical in the first 9 miles, and summits at 14,100 and starts & returns to around 8,400 ft. Long story short, I completed the race in 4:13 and no injuries, so I made it out fine. Once that was completed I immediatly set a new goal for a marathon in AZ, with a set of nutritional goals. My Girlfriend wants to run her first half marathon, so we chose the Rock & Roll Marathon on January 18th 2009. I am confident that I will finish the R&R Marathon; a 4:20 finish is debatable, but will finish, which is the point. My disappointment in the last 90 days was my body fat percentage, I stayed the same, and I have a goal to be at 6% by the first of the year. So taking a serious look at where I was in my achievments for the year I had the hard pill to swallow that I had failed in that "diet" attempt. Normally every moring I am up watching CNN or Robin Meade and I see Tony Horton bouncing around the TV. I decided that would be a great Christmas gift to myself, so I ordered the program. I know the program works, I just need to take the appropriate and sincere action to get it done. Monday January 5th I will restart the circut so my exercises hit on the appropriate days of the week. I will post some before photos on here later today I hope, if I remember to take them, plus my measurements. I am 5' 11" and the last time I weighed myself i was 182 lbs and I believe 11% to 13% BF.
